A World of Water

Few things in life are more relaxing than watching the sun set behind a placid lake, and few towns are as aptly named as Presque Isle.

As our slogan says, it means Almost an Island, and for good reason. Presque Isle is surrounded by more than 1,000 lakes. Add to that the more than 70 rivers and streams than flow through Vilas County, and you're looking at a lot of water. One could enjoy a different lake or stream every day for three years without ever visiting the same water twice, and that doesn't even take into consideration the countless bodies of water that await just over the state line in Michigans's Upper Peninsula.
